The beaches of Piombino

Marina di Salivoli

This easily accessible, sandy town beach near the marina and old town is perfect for families.

Calamoresca

Beautiful bay with crystal clear waters located between Punta Falcone Park and the beginning of the Via dei Cavalleggieri trekking route that crosses the promontory of Piombino and connects the town to the Golfo di Baratti. The Golfo di Calamoresca, accessed via a path that descends to the sea, has a sandy and pebble beach, which is largely public, except for a stretch where there is an equipped beach establishment and a restaurant where you can enjoy fresh fish and local specialities. From the entrance to Cala Moresca, paths branch off across the Promontory of Piombino and it is possible to make interesting excursions to the park of Punta Falcone and to Mount Massoncello. The enthralling panoramic route leads walkers to numerous small bays along the promontory of Piombino and to the beautiful sites of Buca delle Fate, Populonia and Baratti.

Baratti

Red sand beach, mostly public, with two private beach establishments with bar/restaurant parking and public toilets. The beach is situated on the wonderful Golfo di Baratti and is surrounded by a pine forest that offers shade from the summer sun. The beach borders the Archaeological Park of Baratti and Populonia, a large Etruscan site where you can admire the Etruscan necropolis: the park extends over a huge area that also includes the Acropolis of Populonia and the renowned Necropoli delle Grotte.

Buca delle Fate

A rocky bay, located on the promontory of Piombino and Populonia, also reached from land along an attractive path through the woods that descend along the ridge. It is well protected from the wind and, growing in the rock, there are dwarf palms, the only spontaneous variety in the Mediterranean.

Beaches of the Sterpaia Park and East Coast

Beaches awarded the Blue Flag. A long coastline that gradually descends towards the sea, comprising a large beach of fine and very pale sand, bordered by a narrow dune and a long wooded stretch of Mediterranean maquis where it is easy to find shelter from the heat. The beach, which extends to Follonica, is for the most part free but there are also equipped beach establishments, the main locations: Quagliodromo, Torre del Sale, Perelli, Carlappiano, Mortelliccio, Carbonifera, Pappasole and Torremozza.
