Aperitifs and dinners overlooking the sea on the Etruscan Coast
Sea, beach and good company: to enjoy the Tuscany seaside in the evening too, nothing beats a pre-dinner drink with your toes in the sand.
When the sun sets over the sea, there is nothing better, nor more fitting at this romantic hour, than an aperitif on the beach or dinner in a restaurant on the promenade, with the sound of the waves in the background. Along the Etruscan Coast, all of the seaside resorts offer gastronomic specialities and sweeping views of the Tyrrhenian Sea and are perfect places for spending the evening. After a day of adrenaline out surfing or sailing the waves of Castiglioncello, Rosignano and Vada, you can relax with drink or while strolling along the promenade overlooking the sea and the rocks and admiring the exceptional views before reaching the Belvedere and Medici Tower of Castiglioncello; the Marradi pine wood is perfect for sitting and relaxing and the nearby Cala de’ Medici marina offers the opportunity to enjoy a drink and the view of the expanse of yachts waiting to set sail with the next wind.
Along coast between Cecina and San Vincenzo it is possible to taste local fish dishes, such as Palamita di San Vincenzo, accompanied by the excellent wines that are produced throughout the Etruscan Coast, including white and rosé Terratico di Bibbona DOC, which are perfect with fish and seafood dishes. In the numerous bars and restaurants located right on the beach, the evening can continue with freshly prepared cocktails, such as mojito, to be enjoyed barefoot in the sand and to the sound of the music.
To conclude a day spent outdoors, after visiting the Etruscan necropolis of the Archaeological Park of Baratti and Populonia or the mine in the Archaeological-Mining Park of San Silvestro, for example (but also just after an busy day at the beach), an aperitif with a view over the Gulf of Baratti or to the splendid Buca delle Fate is as romantic as it can get. As indeed is the view to behold looking to the sea from Piazza Bovio in Piombino, whilst enjoying a cocktail accompanied by appetising snacks or finger food, or some delicious fried fish, especially during the festival! The Etruscan Coast offers fabulous experiences, high quality traditional products and gastronomic events along the coast as well as inland. And if you want to opt for something different, the Etruscan thermal baths, the jewel in the crown of this whole area, and the outdoor itineraries will not leave you disappointed by any means.
