Four-legged friends on holiday – the dog beaches of the Etruscan Coast

Dog-friendly beaches are an oasis of relaxation and comfort for everyone and fun for our four-legged friends.

Do you want to go on holiday or have a weekend break with your dog and enjoy beach life or walks in the pine forest? The Etruscan Coast in Tuscany has a number of pet-friendly beach establishments and free beaches.

Some of the best known Dog Beaches in the area can be found in Marina di Bibbona and Cecina (locality Le Gorette) and the nearby beaches, one free and the other equipped, welcome all four-legged friends.

The area of the “white beaches” in Rosignano Solvay, in the province of Livorno, has been accessible to dogs for a number of years. Between Rosignano Marittimo and Vada, dogs are free to swim and run, provided there are no more than two animals per person. There are bars and refreshment kiosks, however, as this is a free beach, it’s a good idea to bring a sun umbrella, to shade your 4-legged friend and yourself!

Dog beach Costa degli Etruschi

Between San Vincenzo and the Gulf of Baratti, on the edge of Rimigliano Park, there is a wide stretch dog-friendly beach: one part with rental umbrellas and sunbeds and the other, about a hundred metres long, is a free beach with free admission. The forest of pines and holm oaks in the Nature Reserve directly behind the dog beach offers a cool alternative during the heat of the day and alternative activities thanks to Mobility Dog routes. The beach provides many services, such as showers and fountains for dogs, a Sunday vet, pet-shop, courses and assistance from dog educators as well as a bar with the fabulous Gelato for Dogs!

South of Piombino, Carbonifera is a unique beach enclosed between the waves of the sea and the shade of the pine trees. The pale, fine sand slopes gently into the shallow waters, making this beach ideal for children too. The beach establishment provides clients with umbrellas, gazebos and sunbeds as well as restaurants and bars, beach volleyball and beach tennis courts and showers for dogs; everything you need for a pampered and relaxing holiday!
